Full of fast paced adventure starring Jake Wolfe and his trusty sidekick, Cody. Cody is a triple trained dog. I love Cody and want to sponsor a dog just like him. If you haven't yet read the first book, I recommend it to get a sense of the author's style and background on the characters. The shift in POVs can get a little tricky so I recommend reading this book when you aren't trying to do ten other things at the same time. Overall, I probably enjoy Cody's the dog perspective the I was introduced to author Mark Nolan with Dead Lawyers Don't Lie the first installment of the Jake Wolfe series and was excited when the second book was sent for me to read.
Overall, I probably enjoy Cody's the dog perspective the most. The story line captured my attention at how there are hidden, secret things in every marriage. Whether we like to admit this or not, it's true! I can honestly say that I'm glad I haven't been in Lauren's shoes when she discovers the dark past and current secrets hidden within her own home.
A place that was once viewed as safe and secure has turned into a place for all who seek evil are crawling through. Jake, even in his flawed glory, has a charisma that you can't help but admire. He's one of those good guys that you cheer on through even his dark past because he's trying to make the world a safer, better place.

He made me laugh, sigh, cheer, and worry! This was definitely a must read — and can be read without reading the first one — but be warned; you will not want to put it down once you start reading! Mark Nolan writes page turners. I have a hard time putting this book down from page one. The action starts at page one and just builds throughout the book. In Vigilante Assassin, Jake is thrust into a world of private security.
He has been living on a friend's boat and the head of a security company comes to see about fixing a lock on the boat. W The Jake Wolfe series is one worth picking up but if you don't have time for two books - right now, that is, reading Vigilante Assassin will be worth it. While there, he gets a call for a job. He asks Jake to come with him. The plot thickens from there. You will have a hard time putting the book down without reading it in one sitting so plan on having a sunny day and nothing to do but read when you pick up Vigilante Assassin.

Mark Nolan has a way with words. I love his writing stlye. The story just had so much going on and it had me from the beginning. There were things i wasn't expecting. Twist and turns here and there. It was good I absoulty loved every part of it. There were some times that made you laughed and cry. The Characters were great and loved them. This book is honestly amazing. From the very first paragraph you are pulled into the action packed world of Jake Wolfe and just when you think things are starting to calm down, your hit with another wave of action. The characters are so relatable and well written and story takes you in so many different directions that it keeps you guessing right until the very end. I had the book installed on Google Books so it was accessible on both my tablet and my phone I literally could not put it down, the urge to find out what was coming next just kept me going.

Excellent writing prose, descriptive scenes and characters brought to life run through the imaginative part of your brain painting a vivid image of what is happening and you start to act out the next part of the story or so you think!

Murder, kidnappings and twists that will keep you an the edge of your seat, you are definitely in for a thrilling read. What starts out as a missing husband soon becomes so much more, when he is found dead in a secret room in the house. This starts a chain of events that involve Jake and Cody delving deep into car chases, gun fights and kidnappings. For me Cody stole the show — I loved him the first book and even more so in this one, the relationship that he has with his master Jake is something else and I have heard a lot about the abilities of military service dogs which Nolan manged to convey brilliantly.

The protective instinct takes command in the instance of Lauren and her two children when the two youngsters are kidnapped from their home. The kidnappers are looking for something and won't stop until it's found. Jake's rep has preceded him, and there are those who would be quite happy to see him disappear as well.

Jake's relationship with Sarah, a woman veterinarian introduced in Nolan's debut novel Dead Lawyers Don't Lie continues to cultivate a tenuous relationship, though she probably understands Cody better than Jake.
Terrell is married to Alicia and they love him, but Jake pushes the line far too frequently. Sentences are clipped at times and dialogue can run rather stilted, but the plot flows well and moves into a climax that neatly wraps up all loose or dangling ends. You may have gotten some hints of what's coming between Sarah and Jake. Jake and his dog, however, appears to be escalated into a new level of intrigue and thriller level.
Vigilante Assassin is an entertaining read with an endearing cast of characters and a noble effort for a sophomore novel, though definitely pushes unrealistic boundaries.

I received this book from the author and appreciated the opportunity to read and review. This is a story that is full of action, suspense and mystery. I loved this book and the characters in it. This author did a great job of adding details that make you feel like you were right there with the characters. I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait to see what comes next for Jake! There are some twists and turns in this book that you won't see coming but will leave you on the edge of your seat.
You don't know what is lurking in the shadows. This story is about Jake Wolfe. He is ex-CIA and can't seem to keep himself out of trouble. His side kick is Cody. Cody is his dog that is trained to be a war dog.
He has skills that could kill a man. Jake and Cody are happy being on his boat and making plans for the future when an opportunity comes up that he can't resist. He is talked into working for a security company on a case by case basis.
This is how he meets Lauren Stephens. She thought she had it all, a good marriage, good job, children and a loving husband. Then one morning everything changed for her when her husband comes up missing. Her husband has enemies and she has something they want.
Will Jake be able to protect Lauren and her children from the evil that is lurking to harm them? What will he do when he finds himself messed up in a conspiracy and on top of that someone wants to kill him? This evil will stop at nothing to get what it wants but the question remains, will Jake be able to protect everyone including himself? I love Jake's character. He always seems to find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He is always getting in trouble but he also has a listening problem. He follows himself and does what he thinks is right. He is highly skilled and has a big heart. Cody is just as lovable. He will stop at nothing to protect his master and is put to the test time and time again.
The secondary characters in this book are great too. Some are good and some not so good but they make this story into a thriller. I can't imagine this story being the same without these types of characters. In my opinion, the secondary characters grow within the story and not just Jake.
